Cave leads tough Scottish opening day

Rough, tough and wet conditions greeted the BRC competitors on the opening two stages of the rally. The opening two tests were held at night on the gruelling Mount Joe stage.

Tom Cave and James Morgan lead the 2017 RSAC Scottish Rally in their Hyundai i20 R5. The Welsh pair hold a 9.9 second lead over Swedish driver Fredrik Ahlin. Home-grown hero David Bogie is a further 10 seconds behind in third.

In the Prestone Motorsport News Junior BRC, Oscar Solberg stole the march in his Ford Fiesta R2T on the opening two stages leading Peugeot 208 R2 driver Cameron Davies by 1.7 seconds. In third is Callum Devine in another Ford Fiesta R2T despite coming into service with two punctures on the Fiesta.

Josh Cornwell holds a comfortable 20 second lead in the Cadet Cup while Donnie Macdonald and Spencer Wilkinson hold the advantage in the National Rally Cup and Production Cup respectively.

Action resumes on Saturday with a further six stages.
